Are you ready for Fall Ball?

Notice: 2010 FALL BALL LEAGUE SCHEDULES

We are waiting on a few last minute teams (last year over 20 teams entered the last week).    By taking these teams it will help balance the leagues and allow more teams their choice as to classification, nights and locations.  Where possible, preference will be given to teams in the order they entered.

The schedules will be posted as follows:

All schedules online now.

Regular season play (ten games consisting of five doubleheaders) will begin on August 30 followed by playoff tournaments now scheduled for October 16 (Men) and October 17 (Co-Rec). The winning team in each league will receive fourteen long sleeve fall ball t-shirts. Additional awards will be presented to the top teams in the playoffs.

Since A.S.A. has offered a national tournament at the Class D level of play, many competitive teams are now playing in class D that discourages the recreational teams from playing in our program. This year we are offering four levels of play in each division. We will use a rule pioneered eight years ago in the World’s Largest Softball Tournament known as the classification run rule. This rule determines the number of runs a team may score in a game based on its classification. We have removed the home run restrictions from Class C, D and E. It is not about the number of home runs a team hits, it is about the amount of runs a team scores. We want all teams to have a chance to have a successful fall ball season, and this rule discourages teams from playing down. See the letter for more information on the classification run rule.

Penalty for use of ineligible players will be forfeiting all games in which the ineligible player participated. Be aware that all requests for specific dates, leagues or fields cannot be honored. Only 80 teams can play at Glen Allen Complex, so some teams in order to play have to play in the City of Richmond at Henderson Complex or play at Dorey Park.

Please complete the enclosed application and return as soon as possible with check payable to Central Virginia A.S.A. for the league entry fee to: Central Virginia A.S.A., 6924 Lakeside Avenue, Suite 302, Richmond, VA 23228. Please be aware that because of the need to schedule the correct number of teams for each league, the nights desired, and the level of play desired, that we are unable to place every team in either the city or the county. We accommodate as many teams as we can with their choices, and preference is given to the earliest entering teams whenever possible. Please note that entering by August 18, you can save $15.00 on the league fee. This is done to encourage teams not to wait until the last minute to enter, which makes it difficult for us to prepare schedules in a timely manner.

The run rule previously posted was incorrect -- Please use this new rule posted today, August 27.
